Edward (Ted) McNabola joined Cogan & McNabola, P.C. in 1996 following his employment with Chicago defense firm, Dowd & Dowd, Ltd., where he was responsible for defending catastrophic injury cases involving interstate trucking, personal injury, wrongful death, aviation, general negligence, product liability, and premises liability.
Mr. McNabola graduated with honors from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He was a member of various honor societies at Miami University including Pi Sigma Alpha, Order of Omega, National Youth Leadership Council, and was appointed to a study of higher education by the Ohio Board of Regents.
He immediately entered Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, where he graduated in 1992. Mr. McNabola also completed a course of study in Innsbruck, Austria taught by the current Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, William H. Rehnquist. During law school, Mr. McNabola assisted in the compilation of Callahan’s Appellate Advocacy Manual, a nationally recognized treatise on practice in Appellate Courts. He also studied law in Rome, Italy and completed a program on trial techniques at Regents College in London, England.
After completing his Juris Doctorate at Loyola University, Mr. McNabola obtained his Masters Degree in Political Science in 1995 from Loyola University of Chicago. His area of concentration was in jury selection and deliberation. He has completed numerous programs on trial techniques conducted by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, including the Teacher Training Program at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
He taught law at the Chicago College of Commerce between 1995 and 1997 and is currently an instructor in Trial Techniques at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. In addition, Mr. McNabola teaches the Trial Practice Team at Northwestern University School of Law. He is an active member of the Illinois Bar Association and Chicago Bar Association. Mr. McNabola is also a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and was recently elected to its General Assembly. He is a featured speaker and a published author on various trial practice issues and was recently selected by the Illinois Law Bulletin Publishing Company as one of the 40 Attorneys Under 40 To Watch in the state of Illinois.
Mr. McNabola has successfully handled hundreds of medical malpractice and personal injury cases, including a settlement in excess of two million dollars in a wrongful death case based upon a failure to diagnose cancer. He has won six out of his past seven jury trials, and on his last case the jury awarded his client more than the amount requested. He is a trial attorney who fights for each citizen’s right to a trial by a jury of their peers
